Step Into Spring With Balance

Specialist Acupuncture Support for PCOS, Endometriosis and Fertility

Many people associate spring with reorganising their environment — clearing what has accumulated over winter, creating space, improving flow and restoring order.

In clinical practice, we often see a similar pattern within the body at this time of year.

Winter’s colder, more sedentary months can contribute to:

  • Reduced circulation

  • Pelvic congestion

  • Increased inflammation

  • Damp accumulation

  • Hormonal sluggishness

For women with PCOS or endometriosis, this can mean an increase in:

  • Menstrual pain

  • Clotting

  • Bloating

  • Irregular cycles

  • Increased pelvic heaviness

From a Five Element acupuncture perspective, spring corresponds to the Wood element — movement, growth, direction and the smooth circulation of Qi and Blood. When flow is restored, symptoms often begin to ease.

PCOS & Endometriosis Through a Traditional Chinese Medicine Lens

In my clinical practice specialising in fertility and gynaecology, PCOS and endometriosis frequently present with overlapping underlying patterns such as:

PCOS

  • Damp accumulation

  • Phlegm obstruction

  • Blood stasis

  • Liver Qi stagnation

  • Irregular or absent ovulation

These patterns can manifest as irregular or missed periods, weight gain, acne, bloating and difficulty conceiving.

Endometriosis

  • Blood stasis

  • Cold in the uterus — a pattern frequently associated with pain that improves with warmth, which is why many women instinctively seek heat during menstruation

  • Chronic pelvic inflammation

  • Painful or difficult periods

  • Missed periods or irregular bleeding patterns

The presence of cold and stagnation restricts circulation within the pelvis. When blood does not move freely, pain intensifies. When circulation improves, pain reduces.

A Different Experience of Your Cycle

One of the most rewarding aspects of my work is seeing women move from debilitating, life-disrupting periods to manageable — and in many cases pain-free — cycles.

Acupuncture works by:

  • Improving pelvic circulation

  • Regulating the menstrual cycle

  • Reducing inflammation

  • Supporting ovulation

  • Addressing the root imbalance rather than simply managing symptoms

For women trying to conceive, restoring smooth blood flow and hormonal regulation is also fundamental preparation for pregnancy.

Spring offers a natural opportunity to support this shift. As the season encourages movement and renewal externally, it is an ideal time to address stagnation internally.

Painful periods are common, but they are not normal. If your cycle leaves you exhausted, reliant on pain relief or unable to function fully, it may be time to investigate what is happening beneath the surface.

Begin Your Seasonal Reset

Menstrual pain may be common, but it is not something you simply have to tolerate.

In specialist gynaecological acupuncture, we look beyond the surface symptoms to understand why the body is struggling to regulate itself. Whether you are navigating PCOS, endometriosis, severe period pain or preparing for pregnancy, treatment is tailored to your specific presentation and reproductive goals.

As the season shifts toward growth and renewal, it is an appropriate time to address stagnation and restore flow within the reproductive system.

If you would like support with your cycle or fertility journey, you are welcome to book a consultation to explore how treatment can help.
